Pro-Israelis say that the Israelis have the right to defend themselves while these allies fail to realize that it would also be no problem if the Israelis were going to use nuclear weapons. But, do European supporters recognize that the Israelis will also use these weapons against them if they pose an existential threat? The Americans know this very well but remain silent about it. In 1956, the Israelis started making themselves a nuclear existential threat by breaking the promise not to be the first nuclear power in the Middle East. Two years later they turned Ben-Gurion's words into deeds when Zalman Mordechai Shapiro began to steal highly enriched uranium at the NUMEC site in Apollo, Pennsylvania. The Menachem Begin doctrine, which says "Make sure that no enemy has a nuclear reactor." should ensure the Israelis that they are the only nuclear power in the Middle East. Then we have the Samson Option, which refers to a strategy where the Israelis will use their nuclear weapons against non-nuclear countries if they are under existential threat. However, the threat to employ that option has already been used to force President Richard Nixon to immediately send supplies as Moshe Dayan saw his troops being overrun by Arab forces during the 1973 war. Nixon did give in to avoid a nuclear war. |
